About Us

Pocket Rock Designs: Faribault, Minnesota, United States; Pocket Rock Designs is the jewelry and lapidary love child of Jim and Carol Elwell. Carol has a background in geology. Jim has been fascinated with rocks since he was a young boy going garnet collecting with his grandfather. What started as a simple hobby, morphed into a house and garage full of lapidary equipment, rock and beads. The name Pocket Rock Designs was inspired by Jim’s love of rocks; from the time he was a small boy, and still to this day, Jim has always carried a rock or two in his pockets. The love of rock and design has turned our passion into a wonderful and fulfilling business and a way for us to pay for our obsession with the Earth’s oldest creations….ROCKS.
